Ancestry - Invasion of privacy
I got divorced about 10 years ago. I searched for my name and marriage certificate is posted online.
I never posted my marriage certificate. I don't want to see or be reminded of the divorce. I have been emailing to remove marriage certificate and I've got response that said they will remove any personal information but they have done nothing eventhough they said it was removed. Ancestry is a scam.
They get personal information and never intend to remove it.
It should be illegal to post death certificate or marriage certificate eventhough it is public information. Public information is only intended for someone that has proper documents to claim the information and not just anybody that walks in the door.
Public information is not intended to be posted online but available at county clerk with proper documents to prove who you are and what relationship you have to claim personal information because anybody can get personal information for identity theft and for stalking purposes. That is why DMV do not give out personal information to anybody.
Reason of review: invasion of privacy.
Preferred solution: remove personal information upon request.
Ancestry Cons: Customer service.

If your ancestors had the option to wipe their personal information, they likely would, and you'd know nothing about them.
